Auto-Suggestion: What We Think Is What We Are

Napoleon Hill, in his book "Think and Grow Rich,"  produced the third principle of getting rich. This principle, called Auto- Suggestion, is a powerful tool to direct our subconscious mind to a desired state of being. According to Hill Auto-Suggestion "is the agency of communication between that part of the mind where conscious thought takes place, and that which serves as the seat of action for the subconscious mind."  In other words, If we are to get into a certain state of mind, autosuggestion will create a work order from our conscience mind to our subconscious part of our mind by repeating and visualizing our desired state of being.

What are some examples of how we can use this extraordinary tool? There are a couple that we can use, although there may be more. One is called "affirmations." This is where we say aloud what we are or what we desire to achieve. We use affirmations all the time to our unknowing. For example, "I am" affirmations, like "I am happy" or "I am sad." The thing is, that when we say a certain affirmation like this the subconscious part of our mind goes to work to create this desired state, no matter if it is positive or negative. What we think is what we are. Another Auto-suggestion tool is called the mirror technique. This technique is described in the book called "The Magic of Believing", written in 1948 by Claude Bristol. "To do this technique one stands before a mirror reciting a certain affirmation to ones' self". This technique is used by many orators, statesmen, public speaker, and sales people.

I believe using these techniques will create a desired state we are focused on.
